St. John's hammered #11 Notre Dame in an upset on Sunday, handling the Irish 72-54. Tim Abromitis (Farmington) was slowed by the Red Storm being held to 10 points on 4-11 shooting and just 1-4 from 3. He had 3 rebounds to go along with 1 steal. Notre Dame shot just 41% from the floor and were out-rebounded 31-21.
Monday (Martin Luther King Jr. Day)
#8 UConn 61 #7Villanova 59 - Once again Kemba Walker led the way for UConn and brought his team to victory Monday afternoon. The senior led the way with 24 points and our local player in Tyler Olander (R.O Smith) is still trying to find his groove on this team. He started the game but only played 8 minutes and recorded no stats for the game.
UMBC 71 Boston University 67 - UMBC got their first win in the conference on Monday and their second win of the season. Adrian Satchell (Windsor)* played 26 minutes had 11 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 steal. Travis King (Hyde)* played only 7 minutes and had 1 assist.
Brown 87 Quinnipiac 78 - Dominique Langston (Kolbe Cathedral) played 29 minutes and had 9 points, 6 rebounds and 1 assist. Tevin Baskin (Trinity Catholic) played 16 minutes and had 6 points 2 rebounds, 1 assist, and 1 block.
