Updates From College Hoops Last Night 12/30 and Preview for tonight 12/31

UMBC got off to a slow start to the season going winless in their first 12 games, but last night University of Maryland Baltimore County changed that zero to a 1. Here's how the local players faired...

Adrian Satchell, the 6-5 Foward from Windsor played 36 minutes going 6-15 from the field to finish with 12 points and 9 rebounds.

Travis King, a 6-2 Guard from New Haven played 17 minutes hit two 3-pointers to finish with 6 points 2 rebounds and 2 assists.

Both men are starters for the retrievers.

UMBC won a crazy one 68-67. UMBC (1-12)

On the other hand Robert Morris and Treadwell Lewis were on the losing end of a one point game losing 67-66 to Morgan State.

Lewis did not accumulate any stats in this game. Robert Morris (4-8)

UConn and star Kemba Walker will look to bounce back from the loss @ Pitt and will need the help of CT's Tyler O'Lander, 6-10 Center from E.O Smith

UMass has Matt Hill, 6-7 Foward from Middletown

Holy Cross @ George Washington

Notre Dame and Miami Set to Renew Rivalry

In today's 2 o'clock special, Miami and Notre Dame will re-kindle the flames as they meet in the Sun Bowl. Notre Dame always boasts two or three Connecticut represenatives.

Mike Golic Jr., 6-3 283 Center, the Northwest Catholic native plows the way for Notre Dame on the offensive side. Son of Mike Golic and brother Jake also plays.

Jake Golic, 6-4 235 TE, also from Northwest Catholic will look to help the offense

Thomas Smith, 6-1 215 Safety, Manchester

In today's Bowl Games only Army boasted any Connecticut connection

Army's ties..

Clayton Keller, 6-2 220 LB, Lakeville
Ryan Kalaninis, 6-1 210 DL, Watertown

Army ended up winning the game 16-14, none of the above players posted any stats

An end to Army's season means an end to these CT kids as well congrats on your bowl game, must of been a lot of fun.

NCAA Men's Basketball

UConn
  • Tyler O'Lander #10, Center, E.O Smith - Made a big travel of 10 steps to the UConn cmapus and is playing sparingly for the #7 huskies. Must be a trhill to the kid playing alongside possibly the best player in America in Kemba Walker
Duquesne
  • Damian Saunder #25, Foward, Crosby - Saunders sat his First game of the year for the Dukes but is now back in action Tonight @ #3 Pittsburgh. Saunders is in the last season of his incredible career at Duquesne is finished 5th in rebound per game in the country last year
  • B.J Monteiro #23, Guard, Crosby B.J has been the go to guy for the Dukes at the start of this season, with Saunders and F Bill Clark back in the lineup, B.J is seeing action off the bench. He is seeing a lot of time and will be sought out to bring some offense to the Dukes. He too will see time @ #3 Pittsburgh.
Loyola Marymount
  • Anthony Ireland #3, Guard, Crosby - Ireland just a freshman at Loyola is seeing quality minutes and should play a vital factor through the next few years. He is averageing 7 ppg.
Maryland
  • Jordan Williams #20, Torrington - The talented 6'9 big man leads the terps this year and will be a big part of they are going to have success. He is a reigning All ACC Freshman team member.
